Google is finally launching its Gemini app in France

The Mountain View giant has just deployed its Gemini mobile app in France and the rest of Europe. The program was previously only available in the United States.

The Gemini mobile app is officially accessible on all French smartphones. Google’s new assistant, powered by artificial intelligence and which is intended to eventually replace Google Assistant, can now be downloaded from France and more widely across Europe. Specifically, the application will allow you to get “help in writing, verbally or from an image” explains Google.

Dedicated app on Android, and integrated with Google on iOS

Accessing Gemini on an Android smartphone and on an iPhone is not done in the same way. On Android, users will need to download the dedicated Gemini app from the Google Play Store or use it from Google Assistant, with which it currently works hand-in-hand.

Note that the assistant powered by Google’s AI will be able to perform tasks similar to those offered by Google Assistant. You can ask it to start a timer, make a call or even record reminders. Gemini should, however, develop very quickly, with Google specifying that it is working “to integrate more in the future”. Gemini could also quickly push Google Assistant into the grave. Google already offers to choose whether you prefer to use Google Assistant or Gemini by default. To do this, however, you will have to go to the Settings of Gemini, then in the menu Digital assistants from Google, select twins. You can then talk to Gemini directly with the wake-up phrase “OK Google” commonly used with Google Assistant.

For iPhone owners, access to Gemini is in principle directly from the Google application in which the AI assistant is integrated. All you have to do is press the Gemini button displayed in the application interface to communicate with the chat. That said, you’ll probably have to wait a few more days, or even a few weeks to access it. Google indicates that the rollout of Gemini in the Google app will happen “over the coming weeks.”
