The year 2023 will be marked by an increase in wages, of an average of 7%, but it will remain well below 2022 when there was an increase of 14.6%.
(-7 points).
This significant drop in wage growth can be explained by different factors: the current economic context and the post-covid-inflation period with a significant reduction in fundraising, numerous layoffs and employment freezes.
The 2024 edition of the Humanskills digital sector salary study (specialised in digital recruitment) highlights the new challenges facing companies and the most sought-after profiles for 2024.
First observation, popular professions resist the drop in wages. However, in the face of profound changes in companies, some functions that are still lacking continue to see a strong increase in their salaries.

This is especially the case for data professions, which are experiencing an increase in their salaries of +3% (against 14% in 2022). With the amount of data collected by companies in recent years, and data increasingly strategic to respond to business challenges, the study reveals an increase in needs in these professions, especially for Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Experts.
Moreover, the profession of AI Expert maintains its strong salary growth of + 13%, as last year. Those in IT, markets and e-retail continue to perform well:
- +17% in 2023 for IT professions on average against 16% in 2022 (+1 point)
- + 8% for marketplace and e-retail professions (similar to 2022).
The digital acceleration of companies implies greater stress on IT professions and three profiles will be mainly expected and requested in 2024:
- pentesters (cyber security)
- SRE Engineers
- Cloud Computing Engineers.
On the Marketplaces and e-retail side, the profiles of E-Retail Manager, E-Merchandiser and Business Developer Market Place will be the most sought after in 2024.
One time missions
Production and design professions (Product Manager, Product Owner, Product Designer) are still in high demand, but their salary increases are slowing down: +6 in 2023 versus +12% in 2022.
Finally, CSR has become more than a strategic issue for organizations of all sizes and essential to attract and retain talent, opening new professions, giving way to senior profiles with certification skills, as evidenced by the average salaries of Head of Environmental Impact (€ 100k for +7- years of experience) and Chief Performance Officer (€110k for +7 years of experience), professions particularly sought after for 2024.
“Today companies limit themselves to the price they set and tend to resort more and more to external resources for one-off missions”explains Hymane Ben Aoun, General Manager of Human Skills and Founder of Aravati.
